Located in Adelaide’s Mile End, just ten minutes from the city centre, the headquarters of the United Workers Union—known locally as United Voice—underwent a major office transformation. With the client’s vision of a workplace that felt "Bigger, Stronger and United," the centrepiece became a striking inter-tenancy staircase positioned directly beneath a full-length skylight, anchoring the heart of the space with light and movement.
Asentis partnered with the interior designers and fitout team to engineer and deliver the architectural stair from concept through to completion. Given tight timelines and interstate travel challenges, the decision was made to fully construct and finish the stair—including balustrades, paint, handrails, and flooring—offsite in Sydney. Carefully wrapped and protected, the stair was transported in one piece to Adelaide and craned directly into position with seamless precision.
The result is a standout architectural feature that elevates the entire workspace. Its custom balustrade design and crisp detailing reflect the craftsmanship of Asentis, while the modular construction approach ensured installation was efficient, accurate and disruption-free—an ideal solution for a complex build under pressure.
