Baker McKenzie, Sydney

Baker McKenzie’s Barangaroo offices redefine the modern workspace with an innovative "office without walls" design, featuring striking floating stairs that seamlessly connect three levels, blending cutting-edge technology and sophisticated design.

The floating stairs at Baker McKenzie set the tone for an extraordinary office fitout. While the legal profession often draws on tradition, Baker McKenzie’s Barangaroo offices boldly look to the future, incorporating cutting-edge technology and transforming client interactions.

Gone are the days of traditional, compartmentalised office layouts. The “office without walls” at Baker McKenzie spans three connected floors, featuring open workspaces, expansive function rooms, and intimate meeting areas designed to foster comfort and collaboration for both clients and staff.

A central design element— the floating stairs— connects these spaces, inviting staff and guests to explore all levels. The cantilevered steel tread stairs appear to float effortlessly, framed by sleek glass balustrades and illuminated handrails. Supported by a full suspended steel void bridge, the stairs add a distinctive and sophisticated touch to what is undoubtedly one of the most refined office environments in Sydney.

Embodying a contemporary, futuristic aesthetic, the workplace integrates modern design with advanced technology. Asentis played a key role in bringing the floating stairs to life, ensuring a seamless connection from the ground floor to the office spaces. Hovering in mid-air, the stairs are framed by elegant glass balustrades and metallic handrails, embodying the spirit of innovation throughout the design.
