The restoration of the iconic Trust Building reimagined its historic charm, showcasing a breathtaking spiral staircase, a nature-inspired balustrade, and exquisite metalwork that blend heritage with modern elegance.

The Trust Building at 155 King St has long stood as a defining landmark of Sydney’s skyline. Erected over a century ago and now heritage-listed, it was one of the city’s pioneering skyscrapers, housing an array of businesses from newspapers and insurance brokers to hotels and banks. Yet, numerous renovations over the years had obscured its original charm.

A renowned luxury retailer took on the challenge of revitalising the site, seamlessly restoring its timeless elegance while introducing striking new features that uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship. As part of this transformation, Asentis had the privilege of collaborating with Parisian architects RDAI. Our role was to bring their vision to life by crafting a breathtaking spiral staircase—a sculptural steel masterpiece that serves as the centrepiece of the space. Every detail was meticulously fabricated and installed on-site before being handed over to skilled finishing trades. The balustrade, expertly crafted by boat builders, embodies the refined artistry essential to the staircase’s distinctive character.

In addition to the staircase, Asentis delivered a range of architectural metalwork, including the front entry doors and decorative grilles, all crafted with precision to enhance the building’s character. Our team is honoured to have played a role in preserving The Trust Building’s legacy while shaping its future, ensuring it remains a timeless symbol of Sydney's architectural heritage.
