Asentis engineered and crafted a stunning 4-level suspended staircase at Challenger Limited’s Sydney headquarters, combining structural steel, timber veneer, and stainless steel to create a functional and artistic feature.
Impressive from the moment you walk through the doors, Challenger Limited’s Sydney headquarters is certainly not your stereotypical dull and dreary office space. Built to connect their workforce of over 600 staff, the fitout has been designed to take full advantage of the large central atrium with adjoining communal spaces and meeting rooms.
Complementing and connecting the agile and collaborative fitout are the stairs. Seemingly suspended in space, this 4-level staircase is little short of a work of art, as much as it is a feat of engineering. Asentis engineered and assembled the full structural steel portal and support beams in their factory before breaking it down and piecing it together on-site.
With over 10 tons of steel sections expertly reassembled onsite, Asentis then completed the beautiful finishes including all the timber veneer joinery to the stairs and portal and the stainless steel and glass balustrades. Of note are the stainless steel suspension rod and bush assemblies that assist in the suspension of the stair flights.
